A versatile and talented harpist and singer

Consuelo, Italian and Swiss harpist, is honorary member of Swiss Harp and Principal Harpist of the Basel Chamber Orchestra; she has played as Principal Harpist in countless orchestras such as the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Verone, the Orchestre de jeunes des Pays Européens under the direction of musicians such as Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez and Krzysztof Penderecki and musicians like Julien Prégardien, Arditti Quartett and Heinz Holliger.

She has performed at major European Festivals, including the Music Festival Lucerne, World New Music Days, Autumn Festival Budapest, Music Festival Schwaz, World Harp Congress Geneva, Music Festival Davos, and has given concerts in all Europe, the USA and in Turkey. Consuelo is a member of the Ensemble Phoenix Basel, which was awarded the „Pro Europa“ Prize 2003 for contemporary music, and has given numerous first performances of works by Vinko Globokar, Jürg Wyttenbach, Daneil Glaus, Rudolf Kelterborn, Roland Moser and others. She is also a member of Camerata Variabile Basel and was a member of the Musik Forum Zug, which received the ‘Prix Marguerite de Redings 1998”. She has collaborated with several other ensembles, such as the Ensemble Recherche Freiburg, the Collegium Novum Zürich and the Accademia Bizantina of Ravenna.

She records for Sony Classical and Altrisuoni.

For 14 years she has been a passionate harp professor at the Music Conservatory of Feldkirch in Austria and since 13 years she is leading a harp class at the Music School of Liestal (Basel) in Switzerland. She also prepares students to enter exams and is regularly invited to be part of the jury at the Music Academies of Zurich, Basel, Lausanne and Lugano.

Born in Rapallo, Italy, she lives in Basel with the guitarist Maurizio Grandinetti and their children Emilio and Giulia.

She studied harp with Mirella Vita and graduated cum laude at the Music Conservatory of Verone. She also studied with Ursula Holliger at the Musik-Akademie in Basel, graduating cum laude in 1993. She has taken part in masterclasses given by Marielle Nordmann, Pierre Jamet and Mara Galassi.
